The need for colour accuracy in our business is essential, this is why we invested in the Gretag Macbeth range of equipment and software. As a result of that investment we are able to offer you at very competitive prices professional custom profiles for your monitor and printer.
colour management The range of colours each device that you use in your colour workflow can reproduce is known as its colour space or gamut. Your scanner, monitor and printer will all have slight differences in their colour gamut; even devices of the same type from the same manufacturer can vary.
Without colour management it is quite likely you will find yourself having to spend time in your image editing software to get the image you just scanned in to your computer to look right on your monitor. Then with great disappointment you will find it does not print out the way it was displayed, which takes you back into your image editing software to try again - wasted time, wasted paper.
Does that sound familiar?
I am sure it does, this is where colour management can help.
By measuring a devices capability to reproduce certain colours we can create a profile that interprets the image colour data for the device, taking into account its unique colour space. Then by creating tailor made ICC colour profiles for each of your other devices colour information is not lost in translation.
Device profiles provide colour management systems and applications that support ICC profiles, with the information required to convert colour data between native device colour spaces and device independent colour spaces.
Independent colour spaces such as Adobe(1998) do not rely on any particular device or platform and are therefore perfect for transporting and archiving colour data.
Which basically means all your devices will better understand how to reproduce colours from the ICC profile embedded in your image.

We are not about to try and teach you all about colour management, that is not why we are here. There are many good web sites and books available on the subject, so if you would like to find out more please take a look at our links page.

printer profiles
Printer profiles will greatly reduce the need to print your images repeatedly trying to get them right. This will of course save you time and money on wasted paper and ink.
Profiles for your printer can be created with or without a visit from us. The price for a printer profile starts at only £15.00 + VAT.

monitor profiles Monitor profiling is best carried out with a dedicated hardware device, which would require a site visit. An alternative is to use a software only approach; Adobe Gamma is one such utility and is included with Adobe Photoshop. Others are available as a simple search of the Internet will reveal. To calibrate and profile a monitor is £19.95 + VAT with further discounts available; however as a site visit is required a suitable amount to cover travel cost would need to be added.

scanner profiles
Scanner profiling requires an industry standard IT8.7/1 or IT8.7/2 colour target to be scanned and saved. The image is then loaded into our software for profile creation. We carry IT8 targets for the most popular film types from Fuji and Kodak Ektachrome.
Profiles for your scanner can be created with or without a visit from us.
Profiling a scanner is £19.95 + VAT with further discounts available, however if a site visit is required a suitable amount to cover travel cost would need to be added.
